Reuters Names World’s Top Traffic-Jammed Cities

Not surprisingly, five are in the US: Los Angeles: (1), New York City (3), San Francisco (4), Atlanta (9) and Miami (11) . Moscow (2) tops the foreign city list, followed by Bogata (5), Sao Paulo (6), London (7), Magnitogorsk (8), Paris (10) and Bangkok (12).

If your travels this year take you to any of those congested cities, reconsider doing it with your own or rented car. Weigh the costs, including finding expensive places to park. Check latest internet info on city bus routes, taxi, Uber, Lyft and other urban transportation facilities.

Seoul, South Korea: Foto Not What It Seems To Be PDF Print E-mail

On a recent visit, your travel4seniors.com editor appeared to pat good buddy Al Pacino’s shoulder as they dined Italian together. Actually, that’s just a wax image of the famed actor. It happened in a fake restaurant at Seoul’s Grevin Wax Museum.

In addition to the Pacino figure, among the 70 fantastically realistic displays are Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth II, Albert Einstein, Robert De Niro, Vincent Van Gogh, Pope Francis, Michael Jackson and Madonna.

London UK: Our Visit To Westminster Abbey PDF Print E-mail

Guest senior travel writer PKL, Toronto, Canada: On a recent tour of London, we spent time in ten-century-old Westminster Abbey, near Big Ben on Parliament Square. Long admirers of British history, we wanted to experience it first-hand. This is where famous poets, kings, queens and warriors from all those centuries now rest in glorious memory.

The center aisles of the church are where royal weddings and funerals are held. Now in her 90th year, Queen Elizabeth II was married there in 1947. Seeing the chapel was a sad reminder that it’s also where Princess Diana’s funeral took place nearly two decades ago.

Choose Cruises To Fit Your Senior Lifestyles PDF Print E-mail

The best cruises for seniors meet the needs and preferences of those who’ve attained that certain age. It’s when comfort and luxury are more important than excitement. Some of the most popular are those sea journeys created exclusively for seniors.

Most other cruises include seniors, and offer some activities just for them. However, the same ships may also be full of young adult passengers dedicated to have a noisy good time, especially late at night. Also aboard will be families with little kids who’ll do the same throughout the day.

Florence, Italy: A Memorable Experience PDF Print E-mail

Guest Senior Travel Writer PCO’B, Chicago IL. Of all our traveling experiences, Florence (Firenze) is our favorite in many ways.

The sparkling city hasn't changed much in the past 400 years, and strives to be the most welcome in Italy. As I gazed at the famed statue of David in the Accademia Gallery, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Michelangelo there. Even though the sculpture is perfect, he’d probably want to add a few extra chisel strokes.

Travel Quotes: Film & Music Star Danny Kaye PDF Print E-mail

The late great performer said: To travel is to take a journey into yourself.

Your travel4seniors.com editor had an experience that proves how true Kaye’s words can be. I was stationed with an advanced Navy unit near the bombed-out Rizal Stadium in Manila, The Philippines, in early 1946.

The stadium was still in ruins when USO troupes traveled the world to perform for U.S. Army, Navy and Marine forces. Among the stars who entertained at Rizal were Bob Hope, Al Jolson, Martha Raye, Jack Benny and Danny Kaye. Kaye sang and danced numbers from his movies, featuring his famous fast-talk lyrics that had us all laughing and singing along.

If your journey takes you to Manila, include a trip to the historic site. For current info and scheduled events about Rizal Memorial Stadium, go to www.philstar.com
