As sailors Kelly, Sinatra and Munshin discovered in the 1949 movie, “On The Town”, there are endless opportunities to tour New York City. How you do it depends on many factors: budget, number of days, tastes in food, shopping and theater.
A convenient way is the Two-Day CitySights NY Double-Decker Hop-On Hop-off service. Use it any time of day or night. The itinerary includes: Downtown (Greenwich Village, SoHo), Uptown Treasures and Harlem, across the bridge to Brooklyn and a Night Tour of clubs, theaters and restaurants.

How Soon They Forget: Airports Named For Heroes |
We’ve flown out of the Southern California airport named in honor of Bob Hope many times over the past several decades. Recently, as the comedian’s fame faded into history, the facility’s clueless beancounters renamed it the mundane Hollywood Burbank Airport.
There’s also John Wayne Airport, just an hour’s drive south in Santa Ana. If the trend continues, will it be renamed for that town, or maybe a more recent celebrity? Consider flying from Justin Bieber Airport.
How about another airport named for a real American Medal of Honor WW2 Navy hero, Chicago O’Hare. Will it soon be renamed Chicago O’Bama? (apostrophe intentional)

Qatar Air Now Flies History’s Longest Non-Stop |

The international airline just introduced the 16-hour, 10-minute service from Doha, Qatar, to Auckland, New Zealand. Last-Minute Cruise Booking = Fantastic Bargains |
You’ve survived those many work and kid-raising years, and can now hit the road, sky or sea at any time with just few hours’ notice. So consider dashing aboard a luxury cruise at an amazing bargain price. It isn’t that cruise lines enjoy offering luxury cabins at half-price, just the reality of scheduling.
If, by a couple of days before sailing time, many of the cabins are not booked, cruise line beancounters get desperate. The ship must depart port on schedule, and charging less money for the cabins is a hell of a lot better than getting none for empty ones. Sometimes the costs are half or less of the originally-advertised rates.
If your well-earned retirement years are here, and you can pack and be at the dock within a day or two, consider a last-minute cruise. Check daily with your local travel agent, cruise company ads and online sites that specialize in last-minute bookings.
