Adults Only Seats: AirAsia Offers No-Cry Zone

AirAsia has started a program to relieve some economy passengers of having to deal with little children fussing and crying in seats next to them on long-haul flights.

The adults-only sections of eight rows in economy class near the front of the aircraft will be for AirAsia X schedules including China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia and Nepal.

Peaceful flights in sections without kids under age 13 will have an extra price add-on that ranges from $11 to $35.50. Passengers who pay for the privilege to be in the Quiet Zone will have softer lighting and more legroom.

However, experienced fliers in the cushy seats can’t be guaranteed that some of the more frisky, aisle-roaming young passengers won’t invade their peaceful section. If you’re planning to fly to the Far East or need more information about the airline, go to airasia.com.my

If your autumn travel schedules include visits to some South of the Border cities, consider the growing gang violence in certain areas. Guest Senior Correspondent PDLeF, San Diego CA: I’m a retired Navy vet, and enjoy seagoing history. Here are my favorite European warship museums:

HMS Victory, Portsmouth UK: Commanded by the legendary Admiral Horatio Nelson, the HMS Victory was his flagship during the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar. Restored and still manned by a Royal Navy crew, she's berthed at the Portsmouth Naval Base on England's South Coast.

There are year-round programs aboard HMS Victory, allowing visitors to experience how British sailors lived and fought more than 200 years ago. With a tour group, I saw crew living quarters, armaments, the cabin where Admiral Nelson died and many other areas of the ship.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands: Always A Fun Destination PDF Print E-mail

Senior Correspondent PJL, Milwaukee WI: We've visited the historic city many times, and always find it welcoming and enjoyable. Consider some suggestions:

We enjoy the small suburb of Haarlem, especially when there’s a town square farmers’ market. In autumn and springtime, we go to the flowery world of the Keukenhof Gardens, about 35 minutes from the city center.

Future Choo Choo Trains At Speeds Of Up To 2,500 MPH PDF Print E-mail

That could mean traveling from NYC to Los Angeles in less than 90 minutes. And if they’ll be able to run across water, NYC to London in the same quick time. Of course, it’s all still in the spec stage for such trackless super trains in the far future.

However, UK’s The Sun reports that engineers at the China Aerospace Science and Tech Corp claim they’ve already started on the plans. Of course, none of the tech beancounters have come up with a simple way to eliminate the two-hour drive through heavy city traffic to get to the train station, followed by another hour of checking in and pre-boarding security body cavity searches.
