Are These Burgs The Best To Visit In 2017? |
Lonely Planet recently voted these cities (in rank order) as the ten best in the world to visit in 2017.
Bordeaux, France; Cape Town, South Africa; Los Angeles USA; Merida, Mexico; Ohrid, Macedonia; Pistoia, Italy; Seoul, South Korea; Lisbon, Portugal; Moscow, Russia; and Portland OR USA.
Do you agree? We’re a bit puzzled by the choices, especially a couple of cities on the list we’ve rarely, if ever, heard about before. Also, the survey left out such senior traveler favorites as Virginville, Podunk, Loveladies, Intercourse, Bird-in-Hand and, of course, Punkeydoodles Corners.

100-Year-Old Guy Makes First Parachute Jump |
A brave codger from Tennessee recently fulfilled a life-long bucket list wish. He hit the wild blue yonder like a WWII 101st Airborne paratrooper over Normandy, and landed safe and sound. Will your travel4seniors.com editor be brave enough to try the same thing in just 8 1/2 years?
I wore a parachute many times in my WWII and Korean War travels as a scared-spitless passenger in U.S. Navy aircraft. Fortunately, I never had to jump, and now sure I never will. However, here’s my own bucket list of seven first-time experiences I’d like to try when I hit 100:
Win millions of bucks on the lottery and in Vegas Hike the Great Wall of China Ride a mule down into the Grand Canyon Dine in 2025 at the White House with President Whoever Long talk with comic genius Mel Brooks, also hitting 100 Have funny dance with Julia Louis Dreyfus as Elaine Scuba with the dolphins in Mexico’s Cabo San Lucas

Holland America Limits Smoking Areas Aboard |
Imagine that exciting cruise you’ve anticipated for months. Inhaling fresh sea air as you bask on the deck, watching the clouds and ocean roll by. Then, koff, koff, koff! A guy stomps by puffing on a cigarette, or worse, a stinky cigar. Your peaceful day at sea is ruined by the annoying odor of smoky nicotine.
Along with many other cruise lines, Holland America wants its passengers to enjoy their journeys in clean air. Smoking now is forbidden everywhere inside, and allowed only in certain isolated outdoor areas. For addicted puffers who ignore the ban, there’s a $250 extra cleaning fee added to their bills. So, butt out!

Delta Air: Where, Oh Where Did My Little Bag Go? |
Remember when they started injecting little ID beepers under the skin of pet dogs and cats? It allowed owners to more quickly recover them when they wandered off. Now, Delta Airlines is using computer bleeps to cut back on lost and misdirected luggage.
No, they’re not injecting passengers with beepers. Just their bags. As each is placed on the conveyor belt, a small computer signal IDs it for that specific flight. If no signal, a red light flashes, and the belt would stop until a Delta baggage handler sends the bag on a correct route.
