Virgin Voyages Will Have A Tattoo Parlor Aboard New Ship

Brave senior cruisers will not only enjoy the great food, booze and ocean views on their Virgin Voyage on the Scarlet Lady cruise ship. When the first voyage sails in 2020, they can patronize the Squid Ink Parlor, and make their skin a work of art. Then they can go home after the trip looking like Popeye and other vintage swabbies.

Two Alaskan T-Shirt Pedalers: Optical Illusion? PDF Print E-mail

When your travel4seniors.com editor shot this moment in Juneau, I thought it portrayed two travelers on two bikes. Then, when looking more closely at the photo, it reveals they were on a bicycle built for two. OK, so I’m half crazy looking for Daisy, Daisy?

Myrtle Beach SC: Cussing Could Get You Jail Time & $500 Fine PDF Print E-mail

If your travel plans include Myrtle Beach, be careful with your words. Considering all the extremely foul words we endure these days in night clubs, movie houses and on cable TV, this oceanside town law is like a breath of fresh air.

Your travel4seniors.com editor did active Navy duty in two wars and am certainly familiar with curse words, and maybe spouted a few of themlf when people were trying to kill me. Also, I’ve experienced filthy utterances from pioneer cursers including Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Richard Pryer, Sarah Silverman and other stand-up toilet mouths.

So, maybe the Myrtle Beach cursing ban is a step back to more gentle, articulate speech times. Profane language there is a misdemeanor disorderly conduct offense by city ordinance, and offenders face a possible 30 days in the town jail and/or a fine of up to $500.

Visiting NYC, LA Or Vegas, But Hotel Rates Are Sky High! PDF Print E-mail

Your hometown and online travel agency may quote $450 or more for that last-minute reservation for just one night or so in the big city. Before you agree to shell out all that moola for just eight hours in a strange bed, check around the internet for apps that get much better deals.

For example, Hotel-Tonght offers its Daily Drop service. It lists up-to-the-minute room deals that appear and disappear quickly as hotels check out departing guests. That’s when room rates may drop. For more info, go to hoteltonight.com

No More Companion Pets On Royal Caribbean Cruises PDF Print E-mail

The new rule restricts animal companions to qualified service dogs with blind and otherwise handicapped passengers. This rule specifically bans so-called emotional support animals. There have been complaints and problems for airlines and cruise ships when people bring aboard untrained cats, birds, hamsters and other animals that cause troubles for other passengers. So, if you’re thinking of bringing Fluffy and/or Fido with you on your next journey, first check the latest restrictions and how they may apply to your plans.
