According to a USA Today report, many airports now offer friendly dog therapy for passengers and families in waiting areas. Especially at this busy time of year, the crowds, noise and confusion can be overwhelming.

A friendly paw, furry coat and wagging tail can do much to ease the stress of travelers of all ages. So far, as many as 40 U.S. airports feature volunteer dog owners and their specially-trained pets offering the free canine therapy. Some include: Los Angeles International Airport offers its Pets Unstressing Passengers (PUP) program. The FLL AmbassaDogs program is at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport has Paws 4 Passengers, and San Francisco International Airport features its Wag Brigade. Others are Miami International Airport, San Antonio International Airport and Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. www.usatoday.com/story/travel/flights/2014/11/19/airport-therapy-dogs
