In an area filled with high profile luxury hotels, one of the best is almost hidden away. The Hotel Bel-Air offers serene luxury just off Sunset Boulevard, near Beverly Hills and the UCLA campus.

The five-star hotel debuted in 1946, replacing offices and stables of Alphonzo Bell, developer of Bel-Air. It’s now operated by the international hotel organization, the Dorchester Collection. The Hotel Bel-Air is surrounded by 12 acres of forested lush gardens and its own Swan Lake. Guests and visitors strolling through the grounds and over the lake bridge enjoy the tranquil sight of the regal white birds.

The 58 guestrooms and 45 suites feature a range of accommodations, including patios and lofts. Some suites offer several rooms and private pools. Rooms start around $500 per night, along with special seasonal offers that include discounts and included breakfast.

Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air combines the elegance of the hotel with his famous dining experience. The restaurant is on the hotel's beautiful terrace, with beautiful views of the surrounding gardens.

The Hotel Bel-Air,701 Stone Canyon Road, Los Angeles CA 90077, is on a residential street off Sunset Boulevard, a mile west of Beverly Hills, across the street from the UCLA campus and just east of California 405 Freeway. www.dorchestercollection.com/en/los-angeles/hotel-bel-air
