In our Los Angeles area, for the past year or so we’ve taken advantage of all kinds of local Groupon deals we see online almost every day. They save an average of 50 percent per purchase on theaters, restaurants, bakeries, spas, auto services and others.

Now, Groupon has partnered with big online travel agency Expedia to entice travelers to take advantage of discounted business and vacation getaways.

As with other Groupon services, it starts with free Groupon Getaways membership, where you’ll receive offers to buy travel vouchers. Typically, they will be eligible for certain travel price promotions for a limited period of time.
