Future Road Trip: Driverless Becomes Car/Hotel Suite Combo

Imagine a future auto journey. You go from New York to Washington, or Los Angeles to San Francisco, in a private hotel suite on wheels. Instead of a tedious drive with your eyes always on heavy traffic, you’ll relax on a comfy bed, munch a sandwich and watch TV soap operas or the latest sports event.

The more luxurious versions of the driverless cars will have twin or double beds, kitchen, dining area with views, refrigerator, bath with shower and other upscale features. It may also have a transparent roof, inviting the romantic couple to enjoy the passing daytime scenery and nightly skies.

A drive can be an especially happy event for romantic couples. They’ll cuddle and smooch in their own private highway rolling love nest. For more info, go to www.cnn.com/travel/article/autonomous-travel-suites.

Princess Passengers Claim Bedbugs In Their Cabin PDF Print E-mail

Although the people were quickly moved to another cabin, the angry and itchy couple has filed a lawsuit against the cruise line. My spouse and I have sailed several times annually for more than 30 years, including with Princess, and never experienced bugs in beds at sea.

However, we still have a lasting memory of when it happened several years ago in a Las Vegas hotel. When we woke up on the first morning of our visit, we both felt pain and itching in our legs. When we pulled down the covers, we saw blood spots on the sheets, bite marks on our legs and several of the nasty little bugs.

We immediately called the front desk, and in several minutes an employee arrived with a spray gun. While he worked, we were invited to move to a room down the hall. Furious, we had the guy spray our suitcases, packed and stormed out of the hotel without paying for the night.

What to do if it happens to you in a hotel? Of course, immediately wash and disinfect any wounds caused by the bedbugs. Forget about moving to another room, and leave the hotel as quickly as possible. If you’re on a cruise and experience bugs, you must demand you’re given another cabin that has been thoroughly disinfected. As for a lawsuit, contact an attorney as soon as you get away from the hotel or off the ship.
