Of course, there are always dozens of other Shakespeare plays being performed at smaller theaters, colleges and schools throughout the British Isles.

Across the street from the Victoria Station, it’s a traditionally friendly London pub that serves all the English brews and traditional comfort foods. Among favorites are bangers and mash, and fish and chips, offered in huge servings to share.

Shakespeare spent much of his life in the town located in the English countryside an hour from London. The hotel exterior is of the familiar Tudor open-timbered beams and white cement, and located in the center of the town.

It’s just a short walk to the Bard’s home named for his wife, the Anne Hathaway House. Rooms are named for Shakespeare characters, including Hamlet and Ophelia, Romeo and Juliet, Oberon and Claudius. The hotel also features a pub, appropriately named Othello’s.
