Airlines Squeeze In More Passengers Seats

According to The Boston Globe, an oft-told story is happening again. In their efforts to boost revenue, some airlines are redesigning their cabins to fit in even more seats. The results are, particularly in the tourist class areas, less space and more discomfort.

Our favorite airline, Southwest, may be the most ambitious to have their passenger sections imitating sardine cans. The Globe reports that SW cabins now have six more rows of seats than previous arrangements.

SW’s announcement claims adding of the new rows was because new seat designs of thinner, lighter materials actually make them more comfortable. Yeah, sure, says this frequent SW flying sardine.

West Hollywood CA: Connie & Ted’s Great Seafood PDF Print E-mail

Thumbs up! Eat up! If you’re traveling in Hollywood or anywhere else in the Los Angeles area, make a stop at this great New England-style seafood house. Your travel4seniors.com editors dine there frequently, and always enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner.

The cafe’s Santa Monica Boulevard branch on famed Route 66 is about 20 miles from the beaches of Santa Monica. The stylish indoor and outdoor dining areas are surrounded by reminders of the New England theme, including photos and posters of familiar seafood specialties.

The lunch menu includes a a raw seafood bar, as well as great variety of clams, oysters, scallops, lobster, crab and other ocean delicacies. On our most recent visit, we were there for lunch. It began and continued with excellent service and friendly attitude by the restaurant staff.

We chose two cold platter specialties: wild white Mexican shrimp and Cobb salads, as well as a side bowl of baked macaroni and cheese. After the delicious lunch, for dessert, we shared a generous slice of Bourbon pecan pie, a sweet, slightly boozy conclusion to a great meal.

The lunch bill for two was about $70. Connie & Ted’s is at 8171 Santa Monica Bvd., West Hollywood CA 90046, www.connieandteds.com
