For example, on February 13-15, there will be Civil War reenactments of 1862 battles between Yankees and Rebels in Lake Worth FL. In Statesville, NC, local actors will present a battle of the French and Indian Wars of 1759. On April 25-26, Winter Park FL will offer military vehicle and living history displays, weapons demos and World War II battle reenactments.

One of the most interesting will be the reenactment of the battle of Little Bighorn on June 26, 27, and 28. It will be held just south of Crow Agency, MT, the authentic location of the famous event where General Custer and his 7th Cavalry troopers were killed. Perhaps the most memorable event of this type is the annual Gettysburg PA reenactment on the 146th anniversary of the famed Civil War battle on July 3, 4 and 5.

If you’re traveling overseas during 2009, there are many reenactments to attend, from England’s King Arthur’s last battle, France’s storming of the Bastille and the battle of Stalingrad.
