And for senior visitors, both look as young as springtime with great events.  San Antonio begins with a free New Year’s Eve outdoor commemorative concert. Featuring popular bands and music, along with local food displays and demonstrations in the city’s Main Plaza.

There will be an impressive schedule of art and educational activities throughout the year, as well as a Day of Reflection on May 1. That night features a community candlelight vigil and sunset services in San Antonio’s Main Plaza. New Orleans will also mark its 300th anniversary this year. The city opens 2018 with a tricentennial Mass at St. Louis Cathedral in January. There will also be a special exhibition at the Historic New Orleans Collection, the Nola4Women Global Summit on Women and Girls and the Church in the Crescent exhibit at the Old Ursuline Convent.

And, of course, the city’s internationally famous Mardi Gras kicks off on February 13. In addition, there will be many preliminary events, contests and parades leading up to the main celebration, starting in early January.
