New York City: One Of The Best Freebees In Manhattan Print

Next time you plan to be in town and want to see history and a great show gratis, head for the 88-year-old Broadway building, now called the Ed Sullivan Theater. A very popular free event there, and celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is the Late Show With Dave Letterman.

Many famous entertainers performed at the venerable theater on the Sullivan Show in earlier years. They include the Beatles, Elvis, Lena Horne, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Harpo, James Brown, the Beach Boys, the Jackson 5 and scores of others.

Of course, throughout the two decades of the Letterman show, many more recent celebrities have appeared. They included Madonna, Oprah Winfrey, Betty White, Barack Obama, Lindsay Lohan and countless others. Who knows? Maybe on the night you’ll be in the audience, Taylor Swift will be onstage to twerk for you.
