Hollywood CA: TMZ Tour Bus Experience Print

Marilyn Monroe

For we old folks, it’s physically painful to try watching the nightly TMZ entertainment news program on the Fox Network. The super jerky, nanosecond camera shots cause headaches and quick switches to a quieter, slower channel. However, it’s a very popular source of celebrity gossip for those who can survive viewing it.

Now, for tourists and the show’s many fans, TMZ sponsors a regular Hollywood sightseeing bus tour. We can only hope the bus doesn’t go through the scenes as fast as its TV cameras do.

For prices of $49 for adults and $39 for kids, the four-hour TMZ Tour starts at the traditional Sidewalk of the Stars by the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. It’s a big, colorful and comfy bus, with lots of windows and open-air top deck.

It makes its way to many of the usual tourist stops, including the nearby Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where the ghosts of Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift are alleged to hang out. However, what the TMZ Tour has that the others don’t are young, wanna-be actors who provide lively commentary and sometimes scandalous gossip along the way.

The guides are less informative about where Clark Gable and Greta Garbo once lived. They’re much more enthusiasic about where the Kardashians, Brad Pitt, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton do their nightclub hopping, have affairs and survive run-ins with the local cops. On some tours, young stars may show up, do some hop-on commentary and stay long enough for autograph signings.

The TMZ Tour headquarters are at 6925 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028, phone 1-855-486-9868, or go to www.tmz.com/tour
